Pete is a green soul in the Flowerdale Community.

Pete has a deep understanding of sustainability having worked at CERES, the Centre for Education and Research in Environmental Strategies.

Pete has worked tirelessly to support Flowerdale's recovery, and recites his moving poem, full of wit and wisdom, to help inspire community engagement.

Pete reminds us of the importance of celebration in building community resilience as he shares two special stories on the ground.

Celebration, according to Pete Auty, is the key to resilience, which is what in the end makes communities sustain themselves over the long term.

Here Pete shares the story of Flowerdale's new Community Bus, donated by the Salvation Army.

Flowerdale has prioritised a community bus service to facilitate access to joint shopping trips and community events for many years.

Finally it has arrived!

The potential to reduce siginificant greenhouse emissions from individual car trips while bringing the community together for common activities is finally becoming a reality.

Pete also shares the story of a very special local reserve in Flowerdale which has provided refuge to a number of local animals in the aftermath of the bushfires.

Pete and other Flowerdale residents have been supported by a dedicated team of Landcare volunteers in maintaining the reserve over the years.
